Our Story

It all began back in 1988, when three Cornishmen decided enough was enough. Frustrated by the lack of truly authentic ‘Cornish’ pasties, they set out to put things right, taking a treasured family recipe, working closely with local farmers, and hand-crafting pasties the proper way.

From those humble beginnings, Proper Cornish was born.

More than three decades later, we are still proudly based in the heart of Cornwall, making our pasties with the same care, passion and traditional principles that started it all. While we have grown, our values have not changed. Quality ingredients, skilled hands, and a genuine love for Cornish heritage remain at the core of everything we do.

Our range has evolved to include exciting new flavours and delicious additions such as sausage rolls, slices and turnovers, but every product still carries that unmistakable Proper Cornish quality.

Since joining a larger group in 2023, we have entered an exciting new chapter, sharing the taste of Cornwall with the world. With new markets opening in over 30 countries, our products are reaching more people than ever through retail, freezer centres and foodservice channels.

Today, with a dedicated team of over 250 colleagues and an annual turnover of around £25 million, Proper Cornish continues to grow, and we are always looking for passionate people to join our journey.
